O SABA designa qualquer entidade que exibe, em simultâneo, Estabilidade Passiva (EP) ao nível sistémico global e Estabilidade Ativa (EA) ao nível local ou sub-sistémico — cujo campo de acoplamentos informacionais foi reduzido abaixo do limiar necessário para a emergência de identidade cognitiva, experiencial ou orgânica plena.

SABA designates any entity that simultaneously exhibits Passive Stability (PS) at the global systemic level and Active Stability (AS) at the local or sub-systemic level — whose field of informational couplings has been reduced below the threshold required for the emergence of full cognitive, experiential, or organic identity.

Proposto inicialmente para descrever cérebros preservados ex vivo (BrainEx, Bexorg), o construto revelou valência muito mais ampla: aplica-se a estados vegetativos profundos, culturas de organoide neuronal, sistemas ciberfísicos em hibernação e, potencialmente, a estruturas cosmológicas em mínima revelação informacional.

Initially proposed to describe brains preserved ex vivo (BrainEx, Bexorg), the construct proved to have far broader reach: it applies to deep vegetative states, neural organoid cultures, hibernating cyberphysical systems, and potentially to cosmological structures at minimal informational revelation.

"Archival" refers to the preservation of structural information in a state of systemic IPR — like an archive, without operating it in full. "Biologically active" refers to the sub-systemic AS that distinguishes SABA from inert systems. It is the conjunction of both attributes that makes SABA a genuinely new ontological category — neither a full organism, nor a dead archive.

It is worth stressing: SABA is not a natural kind with a fixed essence, but an informational state that any sufficiently complex system may pass through. A TIT distingue Estabilidade Passiva (arquitetura mantida, sem processamento activo — um cristal, um genoma não transcrito) de Estabilidade Ativa (processamento contínuo, auto-regulação — um organismo, uma mente). A TIT tratava-as como regimes qualitativamente distintos, sem categorias intermédias. É esta lacuna que o SABA preenche.

TIT distinguishes Passive Stability (architecture maintained, no active processing — a crystal, an untranscribed genome) from Active Stability (continuous processing, self-regulation — an organism, a mind). TIT treated them as qualitatively distinct regimes, with no intermediate categories. It is this gap that SABA fills.

A TRD distingue Informação em Potencial Revelável (IPR) de Informação em Atualidade Revelada (IAR). Um sistema em EP pura está em IPR; um sistema em EA plena opera em IAR contínua. O SABA ocupa o estado intermédio: IPR sistémica com IAR local.

TRD distinguishes Revealable-in-Potential Information (RPI) from Actually-Revealed Information (ARI). A system in pure PS is in RPI; a system in full AS operates in continuous ARI. SABA occupies the intermediate state: systemic RPI with local ARI.

Experiência residual. O Corpus não afirma a ausência absoluta de qualquer estado informacional relevante num SABA: a EA sub-sistémica implica processamento, acoplamentos e revelações parciais reais. A posição é de precaução informacional graduada — o estatuto moral de um SABA não é o de um sistema consciente, mas também não é o de um sistema em EP pura.

Residual experience. The Corpus does not assert the absolute absence of any relevant informational state in a SABA: sub-systemic AS implies real processing, real couplings, and real partial revelations. The position is one of graduated informational precaution — the moral status of a SABA is not that of a conscious system, but neither is it that of a system in pure PS.

Identidade pessoal. Um cérebro humano em estado SABA preserva a identidade arquival da pessoa — memórias codificadas, traços de personalidade estruturados — mas perdeu a identidade operativa: a capacidade de integrar experiência, de agir, de se constituir como sujeito contínuo.
